Characteristics of Moss:
Adaptations allowing Bryophytes (Moss) to live on land:
- They're small
- Water is needed to live & disperse gametes
- Don't have a vascular system
Adaptations allowing Bryophytes (Moss) to live on land:
- Cuticle: Waxy coating that prevents the water to go out of the plant.
- Stomata: Are small pores on the underside of leaves with open and close to control the movement of the water.
- Gametangia: Container for gametes (reproductive cell) so it does not dry out since the plants are not in the water anymore the gametes ar in danger of drying out.
